Grow More in Less Space

At Grow Plants Everywhere, we’re driven by a simple but powerful belief:  Fresh food, vibrant plants, and the experience of growing should be accessible to everyone no matter where they live.

But our story didn’t begin in a lab or a boardroom. It began decades ago in a small town in western New York, where resilience, sharing, and self-sufficiency were a way of life.

Where Our Inspiration Took Root

Our founder, Donald J. Avery, is a supersenior, veteran, and native of southwest New York State. He grew up in a community defined by generosity, resourcefulness, and a deep respect for nature. In Wellsville, his parents preserved food, shared harvests, and supported neighbors during difficult seasons.

From those early years, Don learned two timeless truths: nature provides, and communities thrive when they share. Now a full-time Florida resident for the past 13 years, his words still guide our mission today.

“Grow your food people, Grow. because without food and water you cannot survive.”

— Donald J. Avery, Founder

From Ingenuity to Innovation

Before creating Grow Plants Everywhere, Don served as a U.S. Army Paratrooper, where discipline, dedication, and service were not just values, they were a way of life. After military service, he entered the world of packaging technology and went on to lead groundbreaking developments, including work on the iconic Pringles can and the transition of Crisco products into more sustainable packaging.

With a Mechanical Engineering degree, an MBA, and multiple patents, his career reflected a rare blend of technical expertise and innovative vision.

A New Vision for Growing, Sparked in 2017

In 2017, inspired by childhood memories of resourcefulness and a desire to rethink modern agriculture, Don envisioned a vertical growing system that could thrive in any environment.

This idea, simple yet revolutionary, evolved into Grow Plants Everywhere - brought to life in collaboration with Richard Roig, and Ralph and Ryan Allen - and is now backed by two U.S. patents, with several more pending, and recognized globally for its sustainability focused design.

The Problem We Are Solving Today, our food systems face serious challenges. Many people are getting sick from polluted soil and groundwater contaminated by harmful chemicals. Soil erosion is accelerating, and more areas struggle with declining water availability. These issues threaten the safety, quality, and reliability of our food.
Our Solution

Our patented and patent-pending systems make it possible to grow food above any surface. By elevating growing environments away from polluted soil and compromised water sources, our technology directly addresses the core problems facing modern agriculture.

Keeping workers safe and making plant inspection easier are important benefits, but they are not the primary advantage. The true value lies in enabling clean, reliable, sustainable growing anywhere.

Our Mission We are not just designing planters. We are building tools that make growing possible for everyone.

Our solutions help people:

  • Eat healthier
  • Reconnect with nature
  • Reduce their environmental impact
  • Grow fresh food even in the tightest spaces

We envision a world where balconies become gardens, fences become farms, and communities can produce the fresh food they need without relying on large plots of land.

Growing Forward

What began as one small-town lesson in sharing and sustainability has grown into a mission to transform how the world grows food, one balcony, one fence, and one home at a time.

Whether you are cultivating herbs in your first apartment or helping a neighborhood grow its own food, we are here to make growing possible, joyful, and accessible.
